WiBA Unites with WPO at the 2023 Annual Retreat: A Day of Inspiration, Connection, and Empowerment

The 2023 Women Presidents Organization Annual Retreat held at the enchanting Boschendal Estate in the Western Cape was a true celebration of empowerment, innovation, and collaboration. This year's Retreat brought together not only WPO members from across South Africa but also extended an invitation to our esteemed members of the Women in Business Association (WiBA).



On a stormy Saturday amidst the lush vineyards and historic surroundings of Boschendal, WiBA members were treated to a full day of networking, insightful sessions, and the opportunity to engage with WPO members—an experience that left a lasting impact on everyone in attendance.

The day commenced with WiBA members stepping into a room buzzing with enthusiasm and anticipation. It was an opportunity for like-minded women in business from different corners of South Africa to connect, share experiences, and build connections that would potentially redefine the trajectory of their careers and ventures.

The lineup for Saturday was nothing short of exceptional, featuring the following distinguished speakers:


1. Colleen Backstrom: "The Joy of Neuro Colour and Why Colour Matters in Marketing"

Colleen Backstrom, Director of Kaleidoscope, took the stage with a captivating session on the significance of colour in marketing. Attendees gained valuable insights into the psychology of colour and how it influences consumer choices. Colleen's expertise shed new light on an often-overlooked aspect of marketing, leaving attendees inspired to apply these insights to their own businesses and careers.


2. Annabel Bishop: "Economic Insights Unveiled: Navigating Markets and Trends"

With her 25 years of experience, Annabel guided the audience through macroeconomics, financial markets, and political risks. 3. Nobukhosi Dlamini: "Scaling Your Cybersecurity Risk Strategy"

Nobukhosi Dlamini, a renowned thought leader in technology and cybersecurity, addressed the pressing issue of cybersecurity risk. 4. Stephen McGown: "The Extraordinary Story of the Longest-Held Al Qaeda Captive in the World"

As the longest-held surviving prisoner of Al Qaeda, Stephen shared his unique perspective on one of the world's most feared terrorist groups. His story demonstrated the indomitable human spirit, leaving a profound impact on all who were present.
